PRP and PRF
What’s the difference?

Both PRP and PRF are natural treatments made from your own blood and are used to improve skin healing, boost collagen, and enhance results for concerns like scars, stretch marks, and aging skin. The main difference lies in how they’re made and how they work:

  • PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is created by spinning your blood at a high speed to separate the platelets, which are then injected or applied to the skin. PRP releases growth factors quickly and is commonly used in combination with microneedling to help improve skin texture and tone.

  • PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) is a newer, more advanced version. It’s spun at a slower speed, so it contains not only platelets, but also white blood cells, stem cells, and a natural fibrin matrix. PRF releases growth factors more slowly, offering longer-lasting and often more powerful results with no additives.

PRP or PRF

Which is best for me?

When PRP is Better:
PRP provides a rapid burst of growth factors, making it ideal for jump-starting the healing process. It’s especially effective when used in combination with procedures like microneedling for conditions such as shallow acne scars or mild stretch marks. If you're looking for a treatment that quickly infuses your skin with concentrated platelets to boost collagen production and improve skin texture, PRP might be the preferred option.

When PRF is Better:
PRF, on the other hand, offers a slower, more sustained release of growth factors due to its natural fibrin matrix and additional regenerative components like white blood cells and stem cells. This makes it well-suited for deeper, more established scars or stretch marks where long-term, gradual collagen remodelling is beneficial.

In summary, if you need a quick regenerative boost, PRP might be the way to go, whereas PRF is excellent for long-term, sustained healing and deeper tissue regeneration.
